Ciliated cyst of the vulva: oestrogen and progesterone receptors.

چکیده
Sir, Cases of cutaneous cysts lined by ciliated epithelium have rarely been documented, and only a few cases of such cysts in the vulvar vestibulae have been reported (1–3). The origin of the cysts is controversial because the location is so anatomically specific. In this report, we describe a 14-year-old girl with a ciliated cyst of the vulva (CCV), the lining cells of which were positive for oestrogen and progesterone receptors, and discuss the pathogenesis of ciliated epithelium.

Mullerian-Type Ciliated Cyst of the Thigh with PAX-8 and WT1 Positivity: A Case Report and Review of the Literature
Mullerian-type ciliated cysts are uncommon lesions usually found in the lower extremities and perineal region of young females. They have however been reported in males and in other anatomic sites. The cyst lining is typically positive for estrogen receptor (ER), progesterone receptor (PR), PAX-8, and WT1 immunohistochemical stains. This staining pattern has led to the notion that these cysts a...
متن کاملInduction of a differentiated ciliated cell phenotype in primary cultures of Fallopian tube epithelium.
Human Fallopian tubal epithelial cells in culture lose morphological features associated with the epithelium in situ and the extent to which they retain their in-vivo phenotype or function is unknown. In order to address this question, immunocytochemical markers were identified which distinguish secretory (HMFG2+, LhS28-) from ciliated (HMFG2-, LhS28+) epithelial cells in tissue sections of Fal...
متن کاملRobot-Assisted Thoracoscopic Resection of a Posterior Mediastinal Mullerian Cyst
First described in 2005, the Mullerian derived cyst in the mediastinum is a rare finding with few subsequent reports. We report a case of Mullerian cyst occurring in the mediastinum of a 49-year-old female that was resected by robot-assisted thoracoscopic surgery. To our knowledge, this is the first report of robot-assisted resection of Hattori's cyst. Histopathologic analysis revealed ciliated...
متن کاملEctopic Ciliated Cyst in the Mandible Secondary to Genioplasty and Lefort after Two Years: A Case Report and Literature Review
Introduction: The ectopic ciliated cyst is a rare non-odontogenic cyst which occurs as a delayed complication after maxillary sinus radical surgery; this lesion emerges due to the destruction of the sinus mucosa during the surgery and entrapment of the respiratoryepitheliumin the region. This lesion has been observed in very rare cases following genioplasty and bimaxillary orthognathic surgery....
متن کاملMyxoid Epithelial Leiomyoma of the Vulva: A Case Report and Literature Review
Leiomyoma of vulva is rare, and usually misdiagnosed clinically as Bartholin cyst. It usually presents spindle-shaped tumor cells, but some rare cases consisted mainly of atypical epithelioid tumor cells. We report here a case of 30-year-old woman consulting with a vulvar mass of 7 cm in the Bartholin glands area. The lesion was surgically excised with its capsule completely. Pathological exami...
